DF, G&P, and KA V3 mechboxes are all fine.  Do note that if you use bushings, the OD size of the bushings does not matter.  You do have to watch out for soft bushings though, such as ones from CA and SystemA, as they deform easily.  I would recommend bushings such as Prometheus Sintered Alloy or Modify Tempered Stainless Steel units.

As for the measurements, you should take out the bushings or ball bearings, then measure from the mechbox holes instead for more accurate readings.  While I cannot disclose the actual values due to legal binding agreements, I can tell you whether the numbers are within the tolerance of the specifications though.

Not to be a downer on the King Arms gearboxes, but last I checked they cast them of too soft a material and so are prone to failure under higher rate springs. This is obviously less of an issue with a v3, but I generally just avoid KA GBs.

If you are looking for a cheap and dirty fix some of the clone companies make gearboxes to spec as well, which can be had for 20$ each and the good ones are plenty strong. Do be careful of the brands though, and read reviews because you want to research what you are about to purchase.

Hey riot I wanted to upgrade my mp5 and was wondering if your balanced gear set could handle anything more than a m130 spring. I've heard you say that your gears can handle alot more than whats recommended because those recommendations are based off of E700/1000 specs but with a 11.1 V 1800mah 20-25C battery and a proper motor like a tienly or a magnum would it be able to handle the load of a m140 or m150 spring? any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Also another side note if it was able to take an M150 would I be able to get better ROF using a torque set because the load on the gears would be less. This is all theoretical of course but if anyone has tried this or knows again any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again

With a proper motor, like an element torque or I suppose a modified magnum if you must, and a proper battery pack in a well built gun you can run an m150 on the GSR (high speed or revolution gears). Your theory of speed is not the case if your battery pack and motor can handle the increased load of the higher speed gears.

Ahh thanks just what i was hoping to hear. The motor in my gun is a magnum that has been modified so it doesn't short and I got it cheap off ebay about $60 a long time ago. for this specific application of M150 on a balanced set say the magnum cannot handle the load well or fast enough any motors that you or anyone else could recommend as im looking to buy many various motors to test them out and see how they do against each other. The element and tienly motors are already on the list

Yes, those are the parts I was talking about. I was just wondering that if RiotSC is making all the parts he sells here, is he also making all those parts sold at Safarasoftair? I think that RiotSC is the only guy who can answer to this. Smiley

For the Tienly motor, I recommend the GT30000 model since it is purely torque oriented.  Higher torque motors perform exceptionally well with lower ratio gear sets.

Yes, they are the same.  Safara Softair is an authorized dealer of my products.  Smiley  For those in Europe, there are a number of shops that currently carry my products.

Riot, what lubricant do you use with your gears? I currently use Guarder Teflon grease, but I have a set of your gears on their way to me (from Ringsted) and wondered if there's something better I can use once they arrive.

I typically use thin coats of molybdenum grease on the gear teeth and axles.  The Guarder Teflon grease is perfectly fine too, as long as you do not use globs of it on the gears.  Over-lubrication can actually reduce efficiency and make a mess inside your mechbox.

Hey Riot. I think it'd be cool to see some SR-25/L85/PSG-1 gears from you Grin. Why not make the 19 tooth users love your gears as well?

(I think the PSG-1 uses the same gears as the other two, but I could be dead wrong)

You mean this:  Tongue

PSG-1 uses a different cut-off system, so I have not decided to pursue it yet.
