I am probably going to need to pick one of these up, just have to figure out where to have it on my AEG... Any chance you can make it like nun chuck style? Two long pieces?

Wow, amazing work Gandolf! I remember when MOSFET ideas were first being tossed around years ago and I come back and the progression is staggering. Would love for an opportunity to run one of those awesome looking pieces. Keep up the good work!

Magnificent! Really look small for a bunch of parts squeeze in. Great stuff! can't wait to get one of this!

only one question - why not have half the wire terminals for the battery on one side, and the ones going to the gearbox on the other?
this would probably make the installing process a bit easier.
other than that, looks real interesting.

only one question - why not have half the wire terminals for the battery on one side, and the ones going to the gearbox on the other? The problem is at these currents the PC board traces need to be very thick. Right now the FET power leads and the terminals are very close so the big traces are very short and can still be very large. If the terminals are moved to two sides, then copper straps or heavy wires would be needed. The wired computers all have the wires leading far into the units now to eliminate big power traces. It might be possible to go to a four layer board but I have a lot of power vias in there now too. Internal power planes also are significantly insulated so the traces would have to be larger still. I just don't see a way to do it without making it all significantly larger. Gandolf

gotcha - i should've known there was an explanation.
if my sw-computer ever gives out in my high-fps project, i may pick one of these up.

Hi, I have a bunch of Panthers out there in the field now. I have heard "zero" back... I am hoping for that "no news, is GOOD news" thing... But aside from that, the" Holy Grail" is to squish that panther down soooo small... So it could conquer the SW-COMPUTER and SW-EVOLUTION Just "ONE" product that does "everything!!" Here is a 'first shot' design: http://extreme-fire.com/Panther/Panther-Idea.gifhttp://extreme-fire.com/Panther/Panther-Idea.pcbSame screw terminals in a package 2.00 x 0.575 x 0.525 inches,,, A basic power board holding the FETs and big TVSs along with the wire terminal connectors. Then #22 wires connecting up to a sort of "generic" second CPU control board snuggled still in the room left between the connectors. The power is carried along the thin traces as soldered #16 buss wire now. A cool and easy "trick" Two problems... The software chip is all tiny now and soldered down. And then I loose the AUX connector. All the low power connecting logic is a "daughter board" now. My great pal Mike may know how to save the AUX connector and functions... The CPU going to surface mount is not a giant leap since the software is "dull" now and has not change much now for like great fraction of a year... I may delay the present Panther awhile since if all this new stuff works out, There will be only "ONE"!!! Gandolf

I figure I'll report back a bit more on a "barinless" panther prototype in a 550FPS DMR:
Still running strong with every day use on the "wimpy" 11.1v lipo. I've tested it on my monster LiPO (3AH, 60C burst) that caused 250A+ spikes as detected by the SW-Evolution in my M4, and it's still running just fine. The little '08 JG motor isn't liking all the power it gets from the lipos, leading to the smoke on every shot, but panther doesn't even get warm! Also the active breaking is incredibly strong, just how I need it for my pre-cocking ARMY L85A1 gearbox (think lovechild of a V4, V6, and ICS split gearbox).
When these are released, they are going to be worth everyone with "Insane" guns while. They can pass more current then your car uses to start without the slightest fuss!

Wow a SW-Phanter-Long! I like the Aux connector idea as this will be easy for disconnecting the Phanter and transferring to another AEG.

Where did you get that battery?

Don't brick your LiPO, use a PCB (I make them for that reason)

rclipos.com, look under the 30c specials. All of those batteries are BEAST and come with (I think) 8AWG wire installed.

Glad to hear all is going well So far I have not heard of anyone being able to break anything on the Panther. There are a reasonable number of them out there now so we'll see if anything comes up. But it sounds so far like they are working just like they should Gandolf

Sheesh, you come out with a new one before I even get my evolution installed. I would love to try that out seeing as I am using one of those high draw spike laden systems that seems to have given the evolution some trouble . Looks great.
