Hi,

I usually avoid 'generic' trouble shooting things since they are really rare and serious problems tend to be very unique...

But this one really covered a LOT...  The names have been redacted to protect the innocent, and then me Cheesy

Hi x,

This is an odd one that I have never heard before.  But it is probably easy to find.

1.  Of course be sure the batteries are fully charged.  That is the #1 thing along with a bad battery charger.  The unit does draw current so if you leave the batteries in for a week plus it will discharge them.

2.  Then check this:

http://forums.airsoftmechanics.com/index.php?topic=1607.0

If that second set of contacts goes bad, it will screw everything up!!!!

3.  Motor brushes...  If they stick, bind, are worn, or dirty they like to cause odd intermittent dead gun failures.

4.  Trigger switch, dirt, broken wire, pinched wire...  Try connecting the trigger wires directly (like with a paper clip directly on the Cheetah's trigger terminals).

4a.  A defect in the cutoff lever mechanism (like sticking, bent, broken, warn) might not let the trigger switch reset after a semi shot.  Holding the trigger open and making the gun go dead too.

5.  Are there any error vibrations after you try too shoot??  If the computer knows what's wrong it tries to tell you.  If no vibrations, something else in the gun is hosed.  The computer is pretty smart, so it thinks it is not supposed to be shooting.  Probably getting a bad trigger signal that was not good enough to fire the gun.  It won't fire unless that signal is good and solid.  It sounds like it is not getting a trigger signal at all.

6.  Try a full reset.  Pull the trigger after the first vibration and wait until the six vibration step.  Then hold the trigger down until you get a long vibration after two seconds.  That resets everything in case the computer has bad data.  Then unplug and replug the gun in and fire 5 shots in semi to reset the timing to your gun.

7.  Bad connectors...  Check them all!!  They all have to work very well.  Watch for loose wires coming out of the connector's metal connections inside (they should always be solidly soldered in place).

That fixes like 99% of it.  Please pass this on to x1 techs too to help them Wink

If it still is not working let me know and I'll figure it out one way or another.  But it prolly is one of the above - and sometimes two Cheesy

It sounds like the Cheetah itself is fine but is getting bad power or data.  The Cheetah is far more reliable than everything else in the gun (like a 0.2% / year failure rate on them).  So check everything else first.  But your's might be failure #3 too!  But probably not Wink

Let me know what you find or if you can't get it fixed.  I'll fix it as a last resort Wink

Best Regards,

   Terry

When we plug the battery in, we get on short buzz and then one long buzz. According to the manual, this is the proper startup. When we pull the trigger, it simply clicks but doesn't fire.
> So we took the gun into x1 for troubleshooting. They tried at least 3 batteries and it didn't fire. On the 4th battery it fired and we were able to shoot through one clip. They didn't know why the one battery worked. We then took the gun home and tried our batteries once more after making sure they were fully charged again. None worked.

If I may add:

Remove the motor from the cage/gearbox/pistol grip (wires should be still be connected). Then connect the battery, it should vibrate. Try pulling the trigger or shorting the trigger wires/ports. The motor should spin.

IF it does, then there's enough current for the motor to spin (without load).
IF it doesn't, there might be a problem with the motor (contacts problem/short).

If it spins, then put it back to the cage/gearbox/pistol grip, and try pulling the trigger again, IF it only clicks, then it may be any (or combination of the following):
1. the current is not enough to drive the gearbox
2. motor is busted
3. motor is stressed
4. Internal problems

There is another rare situation where the motor performance in the gun is iffy, however once removed the motor performs fine. This ca be caused by an internal short where the motor is grounding out through the pinion gear. It is a rare issue, but very perplexing when it occurs.
